Salary Range

$94,204.50 to $114,133.50

Typical Hiring Range

$94,204.50 to $104,188.50

In determining salary, Phoenix considers many factors including the successful candidate's skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at Phoenix's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

JobSummary:

Reporting tothe Chief Executive Officer, the Lead - Strategic Communication and Developmentprovides strategic leadership for Phoenix Society's external communications,fund development, organizational growth and strategic partnerships. Theposition advances Phoenix's priorities by leading communications and publicaffairs, securing new funding opportunities, developing business cases andproposals, strengthening philanthropic relationships, and positioning Phoenixas a leader in integrated health, housing, recovery and community services.

Workingclosely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, the Lead identifiesopportunities for growth, develops compelling funding submissions, leadsstrategic communications and media relations, and builds partnerships thatsupport innovation, sustainability and impact across British Columbia.

In summary,the role is responsible for:

THE OPPORTUNITY

StrategicCommunications & Public Affairs:
• Develop, implement andevaluate Phoenix Society's external communications strategy in alignment withthe strategic plan.
• Provide strategiccommunications advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board,including issues management, reputation risk and public positioning.
• Lead media relations andprepare key messages, news releases, public statements, op-eds, speeches,presentations and briefing materials.
• Oversee organizationalstorytelling, publications, annual reports, website content, social media,digital communications and brand standards.
• Lead crisiscommunications and coordinate timely, accurate and values-aligned responses toemerging issues.
• Support governmentrelations, advocacy and public policy communications.

BusinessDevelopment & Strategic Growth:
• Identify and assessstrategic growth opportunities aligned with Phoenix Society's mission, mandateand strategic priorities.
• Lead the preparation ofRequests for Proposals, Expressions of Interest, government funding submissionsand competitive bids.
• Develop business casesfor new programs, service expansions, capital projects and innovative models ofcare.
• Coordinatecross-functional proposal teams and integrate program, finance, operations,evaluation and partnership input into high-quality submissions.
• Conduct environmentalscans and monitor policy, funding and sector trends that may createopportunities or risks for Phoenix.
• Support partnershipagreements, memoranda of understanding and related negotiations incollaboration with the CEO and appropriate leaders.

Fund Development & Philanthropy:
• Develop and implement anannual and multi-year fund development and philanthropy strategy inconsultation with the CEO and Board.
• Research, write andmanage grant applications and reports for government, foundations, corporationsand other funders.
• Build and stewardrelationships with major donors, foundations, corporate partners, sponsors andprospective supporters.
• Develop donor engagement,stewardship, recognition and impact-reporting strategies.
• Lead or support annualgiving, major gift, capital and special fundraising campaigns.
• Accountable for achievingannual fundraising, grant acquisition, partnership development andcommunications objectives as established through organizational planningprocesses.
• Maintain effective donorand funding systems, records, pipelines, calendars and performance reporting.
• Develop and manage communications budgets and monitor expenditureswithin approved limits.

StrategicPartnerships & External Relations:
• Develop and strengthenpartnerships with health authorities, governments, Indigenous organizations,municipalities, academic institutions, community providers, foundations andcorporate partners.
• Identify collaborativefunding, service delivery, research and innovation opportunities.
• Represent Phoenix Societyat external tables, events, working groups and partnership meetings asdelegated by the CEO.
• Cultivate relationshipsthat strengthen integrated models of care and expand Phoenix's reach andimpact.
• Maintain a strategicstakeholder map and partnership pipeline, with clear priorities and follow-up.

Executive& Organizational Strategy:
• Serve as a strategicwriter and thought partner to the CEO.
• Prepare Board reports,executive briefings, government correspondence, presentations and strategicplanning materials.
• Acts as a seniorstrategic advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on communications,external relations, funding opportunities, organizational growth andstakeholder engagement.
• Support organizationalplanning, priority-setting and the development of new initiatives.
• Establish and monitor keyperformance indicators related to communications, funding, partnerships andbusiness development.
• Provide regular updatesto the CEO and Board on progress, emerging opportunities, risks and results.
• Undertake other strategicduties consistent with the scope and seniority of the role.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree incommunications, public relations, business, marketing, fundraising, publicadministration or a related field; an equivalent combination of education andsenior-level experience may be considered.
• Minimum seven to tenyears progressively responsible experience in strategic communications, funddevelopment, government relations, partnership development or businessdevelopment, including experience advising senior executives and leadingcomplex organizational initiatives, preferably in the non-profit, health,housing or social services sector.
• Demonstrated successwriting complex grants, RFP responses, business cases, funding proposals andexecutive-level materials.
• Experience developing andimplementing communications, fundraising or partnership strategies withmeasurable results.
• Experience in mediarelations, issues management and executive communications.
• Demonstrated experiencecultivating funders, donors, government partners and senior externalstakeholders.
• Knowledge ofphilanthropic practices, donor stewardship and relevant Canada Revenue Agencyrequirements is an asset.

• Proficiency withMicrosoft 365, donor or customer relationship management systems, contentmanagement systems and digital communications platforms.

• Standard First Aid - withCPR-C-AED certificate (Valid).
• Nonviolent CrisisIntervention Training certificate preferred.
