Serve as a top subject matter expert within the External Reporting group performing accounting, financial reporting and analysis functions in the preparation and filing of financial reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).Job Description
Responsibilities
Utilize subject matter expertise to lead the preparation, review, and filing of periodic SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and other required filings. Coordinate the timely submission of filings within regulatory deadlines.
Review and perform analytics in the preparation of financial statements to ensure consistency and accuracy across all financial statements and disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. Ensure accuracy of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging in financial statements.
Deliver a higher level of financial reporting expertise to aid in solving problems in unique ways.
Lead interactions with external auditors, including managing audits, addressing auditor inquiries and providing proper documentation for disclosures.
Collaborate with management to maintain and enhance disclosure controls and procedures to ensure high-quality reporting. Act as a processes owner to support and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
Recommend and lead implementation of changes to processes to achieve efficiencies through the use of technology.
Create communications for complex messages to a variety of audiences at the strategic and operational levels including determining and communicating SEC reporting calendar and project timelines.
Develop solid business relationships with all levels of management; partner with senior management to meet business goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience
Ten years of financial analysis experience, including work in the insurance, financial services or investment management industry
Expert knowledge of accounting/finance
Analytical and problem solving skills
Strategic thinker able to communicate on business/market and legislative issues at a macro level
Organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to make timely decisions using the appropriate information
Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills to provide complex information to diverse audiences
Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel and financial business systems
Preferred Qualifications
CPA strongly preferred/advanced degree
Extensive knowledge of SEC reporting, U.S. GAAP, and XBRL
6-10+ years of experience in SEC reporting and regulations.
Proven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Experience working with Workiva and other financial reporting software.
Working Conditions
Hybrid (In Office: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays)
The Salary for this position generally ranges between$128,000 - $161,000 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
