Job DescriptionThe Lead Solutions Architect connects business strategy with technology execution across the Wealth, Commercial, and Institutional Banking (WCIB) portfolio. This role defines current- and target-state architecture, develops technology roadmaps, and provides hands-on architecture leadership for complex initiatives spanning applications, integrations, data, and platforms. The architect partners with business, product, engineering, and enterprise architecture teams to advance modernization while ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Define and maintain current- and target-state architecture and technology roadmaps aligned with business and enterprise priorities.
- Lead solution architecture for complex applications, integration, data, cloud, and infrastructure initiatives.
- Evaluate solutions for scalability, security, performance, resiliency, operability, and alignment with architecture standards.
- Guide cross-product architecture decisions to improve consistency, reuse, interoperability, and regulatory alignment.
- Drive modernization through cloud adoption, application rationalization, platform consolidation, debt reduction, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- Establish reusable architecture patterns, standards, and guardrails for APIs, microservices, events, and distributed systems.
- Translate strategic priorities into executable technology plans with business, product, engineering, security, risk, and architecture partners.
- Communicate decisions and tradeoffs through roadmaps, diagrams, reviews, documentation, and executive presentations.
- Guide solution and product architects and embed data and AI considerations early in solution design.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Eight or more years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications- Eight or more years in solution, enterprise, platform, or portfolio architecture.
- Strong SDLC knowledge and experience evaluating complex solutions against architecture and nonfunctional requirements.
- Experience designing scalable, secure, resilient systems using modern integration and distributed-architecture patterns.
- Experience with Azure or AWS, cloud-native or hybrid architectures, and modernization.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and explain complex technology decisions to business, executive, and technical audiences.
- Experience in financial services or another highly regulated industry.
- Experience supporting multiple products, platforms, systems, or customer groups from a portfolio perspective.
- Knowledge of architecture governance, security and regulatory risk, total cost of ownership, and ROI.
- Working knowledge of data platforms, AI/ML, AI-assisted development, and their architectural implications.
- Familiarity with platform engineering, digital assets or tokenization, and frameworks such as TOGAF or ITIL.
Location ExpectationThis role requires working from a U.S. Bank location, listed in the posting, three (3) or more days per week.
