JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, youare an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm27s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage Scrum team, engineer27s backlog, ensuring JIRA hygiene, Say/Do ratios, Agile maturity
  • Partner with business analysts, product and operations to ensure that scope is clear and well documented
  • Work with technology and business teams (AD, QA, UAT, Ops, Product) to produce, update and deliver on a comprehensive project schedule
  • Maintain and monitor list of key project-level dependencies including across application groups and proactively track through to completion
  • Facilitate key project level meetings and meet the relevant information demands for those. Ensure decisions are made within governance and identified governance meetings have clear agenda, quorum members, reports and minutes published. Drive project adherence to the agreed project lifecycle
  • Ensure the project adheres to project risk and issue standards and maintain the project risk and issue log (driving remediation/ resolution activities through to closure). Drive effective escalation management of risks and issues from projects and releases into the program
  • Manage stakeholder communications at all levels across the firm and be responsible for maintaining a project stakeholder and communications plan
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Experience managing software projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
  • Experience with software development best practices and experience establishing methods, tools, and process improvements for cross-team initiatives
  • Experience with Cloud Platform or Cloud technologies
  • Experience of software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including build processes, testing, and operations
  • Influencing Skills 6 a proven ability to operate in a highly collaborative, yet decisive and results-oriented manner

  • Experience working with and leading large geographically spread teams
  • Stakeholder management and communication with senior level and proactive escalations of roadblocks
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Engineering or a related technical field
  • Exposer to AI - using python, AI, Copilot in VScode/Intellij
