Position Summary

The Lead Salesforce Architect serves as the senior technology leader responsible for defining and governing enterprise Salesforce architecture across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Agentforce, Data Cloud, CRM integrations, AI-enabled solutions, and related enterprise platforms.

This role partners with business leaders, product owners, enterprise architects, engineering teams, and external partners to design scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that support McKesson's strategic business objectives. The architect drives architecture governance, establishes standards, mentors solution architects, and ensures alignment with enterprise architecture principles. This position operates with significant autonomy and provides leadership across multiple programs and portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
Architecture Strategy & Leadership
  • Define enterprise Salesforce architecture strategy and target-state roadmaps.
  • Lead architecture reviews and approve solution designs for high-impact initiatives.
  • Establish architecture principles, standards, patterns, and governance processes.
  • Drive platform modernization and technical debt reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture teams to align Salesforce strategy with long-term enterprise goals.
Salesforce Platform Ownership
  • Own end-to-end architecture for Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Agentforce, Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and custom applications.
  • Define reusable design patterns and integration standards.
  • Guide solution teams on platform scalability, data architecture, and security requirements.
  • Review application performance and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Integration & Enterprise Solutions
  • Architect integrations between Salesforce and enterprise systems, including SAP, MDM, contact center platforms, Azure services, APIs, middleware, data platforms, and analytics solutions.
  • Define event-driven, API-first, and microservices-based architectures.
AI, Data & Agentforce Enablement
  • Drive adoption of Salesforce Agentforce and AI-powered capabilities.
  • Design secure AI architectures leveraging enterprise data platforms.
  • Lead evaluation of emerging Salesforce AI and Data Cloud capabilities.
  • Define governance for AI solutions, security, compliance, and responsible AI practices.
Governance & Compliance
  • Establish architecture review boards and decision frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Define non-functional requirements including resiliency, observability, scalability, and performance.
Technical Leadership
  • Mentor architects, technical leads, and engineering teams.
  • Provide executive-level presentations and architecture recommendations.
  • Influence technology direction across multiple business units.
  • Lead architecture assessments, vendor evaluations, and technology selection efforts.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience
  • 10+ years of enterprise technology architecture experience.
  • 7+ years of Salesforce architecture and delivery experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale enterprise transformations.
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries.
  • Proven leadership across cross-functional teams and complex programs.
Salesforce Expertise
  • Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, Data Cloud, and Agentforce.
  • Platform development, Flow, automation, and enterprise integration architecture.
  • Security and identity management.
Architecture Skills
  • Enterprise and solution architecture.
  • API management and event-driven architecture.
  • Data, cloud, and application security architecture.
  • DevOps, CI/CD, architecture governance, and technology roadmapping.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA), Application Architect, or System Architect certifications.
  • Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant, Salesforce AI Associate, or Agentforce certifications.
  • TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect, or ITIL certification.
  • Experience with healthcare, pharma, distribution, or supply chain domains.
  • Experience with contact center modernization and AI platforms.
  • Experience with Google CCAI, Five9, Verint, SAP, MuleSoft, and Azure Integration Services.
