Lead Process Development ScientistAs we deliver our ambitious 2030 Growth Strategy, we're looking for a Lead Process Development Scientist to join our Pharma Solutions team in Alabaster, Alabama. This role is responsible for leading process development, scale-up, and technology transfer activities for liquid phase peptide synthesis projects, supporting the successful commercialization of new products across pharmaceutical and beauty active applications.
Who We're Looking For: - Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Eight (8) + years of plant and process development experience within fine chemical manufacturing.
- Proven experience with process development, scale-up, and commercial technology transfer.
- Demonstrated experience scaling products from laboratory development through commercial manufacturing.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry techniques.
- Experience with peptide synthesis is preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of analytical techniques including HPLC, UPLC, LCMS, NMR, and GCMS.
- Experience managing technology transfers across manufacturing sites.
- Understanding of process safety, manufacturing operations, and commercialization requirements.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong project management and organizational abilities.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, result-driven environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support technology transfer and manufacturing activities at other sites.

What You'll Be Doing: - Collaborate with R&D scientists on the development and technology transfer of liquid phase peptide synthesis processes.
- Partner with global teams to support internal and external projects involving peptide synthesis process development and new product development.
- Perform organic synthesis experiments and analytical characterization activities.
- Lead technology transfer activities and provide technical support for commercial peptide manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot process development challenges in collaboration with R&D scientists and manufacturing teams.
- Review experimental data and prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and laboratory documentation.
- Communicate project progress, results, and technical recommendations to management and cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate activities with multidisciplinary teams across global locations and business units.
- Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and ensure compliance with company documentation standards.
- Support laboratory operations through safe work practices, equipment calibration, inventory management, facility upkeep, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Contribute technical expertise to high-impact global projects that support Croda's growth strategy.
