Position Summary
The Lead Operations Specialist plays a critical role in driving operational excellence through data-driven insights, workforce optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is responsible for analyzing complex business data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and delivering actionable recommendations that support operational performance and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and technical capabilities with exceptional communication skills and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze operational, workforce, and business performance data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain payroll budgeting models, labor forecasts, and analytical tools that improve forecast accuracy and support data-driven business decisions.
- Own the end-to-end weekly payroll budget process, including forecasting, planning, tracking, variance analysis, and executive reporting to ensure alignment with financial and operational objectives.
- Translate business reporting needs into technical requirements by partnering with Analytics teams to deliver scalable reporting solutions and drive adoption of dashboards and self-service tools.
- Partner cross-functionally with various stakeholders to support labor planning, workforce optimization, and key business initiatives.
- Lead complex analytical projects from conception through implementation, delivering measurable business value while ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
- Translate complex data into compelling presentations and executive-ready recommendations, effectively communicating insights and influencing business decisions.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), proactively identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, labor productivity, and overall business performance.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines while working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Operations Analytics, Workforce Management, Labor Planning, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting Workforce Management functions, including forecasting, scheduling, labor planning, capacity planning, or workforce optimization.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful business recommendations.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with experience communicating to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of SQL for data extraction, validation, and analysis.
- Experience building dashboards, automated reporting solutions, and performance metrics.
- Strong understanding of workforce management systems and labor analytics.
- Experience using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) Workforce Management solutions or a similar tool is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with forecasting models, workforce scheduling tools, and labor optimization methodologies.

This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ’s Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $103,000.00 - $131,500.00
