The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 5:00am - 1:30pm

SUMMARY: The Lead Mechanic oversees the maintenance tasks in the service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft to insure airworthiness. Ensures timely completion of tasks and provides training and mentorship for an assigned function area. Assists with Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities for short periods of time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures all tasks are promptly completed in compliance with federal regulations, customer guidelines and company policies.
  • Reviews required customer and FAA paperwork to ensure proper maintenance updates and compliance with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
  • Leads the maintenance, preventative maintenance, or alteration of, component or part thereof, only for which that Lead is rated and has satisfactorily performed the work concerned at an earlier date.
  • Performs maintenance tasks as required and becomes an active member of the crew.
  • Conducts crew meetings to ensure communication regarding work, safety, and quality.
  • Uses technical data to order parts and ensure material is effective for component being installed on. Ensures all parts for specialty area are ordered in a timely manner. Reviews all parts in orders.
  • Ensures Engineering is submitted in timely manner as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping all assigned areas clean and audit ready. Identifies and eliminates hazards that pose a risk to employee safety and quality of work. Ensures compliance with safety requirements.
  • Responsible for on-time delivery in assigned skill set in coordination with other skill sets.
  • Monitors customer adjusted due dates and hour estimates.
  • Reviews and approves labor hours and monitors progress of labor targets.
  • Notifies Supervisor of variations in labor requirements to ensure most efficient utilization of labor and resources and to avoid LOW when possible.
  • Identifies opportunities to develop DER repairs.
  • Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Answers questions from internal customers as needed.
  • Responsible for setting timeframe expectations with technicians on task accomplishment.
  • Oversees On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignment and mentoring.
  • Recommends changes to processes to improve efficiencies and workflow.
  • Complies with, communicates, and provides guidance to team members on ATS policies, procedures and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Promotes "Balanced Technician" concept.
  • Mentors and develops technical and leadership skills of the mechanics.
  • Communicates with Supervisor all information on assigned employees including disciplinary problems. May deliver or give input with performance evaluations on assigned employees.
  • Provides regular feedback and performance coaching including appropriate management of time, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring proper knowledge and training to accomplish assignments to all members of assigned crew.
  • Responsible for accuracy of clocking into jobs for assigned team.
  • Responsible for adhering to all ATS required training.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.


OTHER DUTIES:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs Delegated Inspector duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of four (4) years' recent component, commercial aircraft maintenance and/or MRO experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Applicable Repairman, Airframe, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required.


PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand, and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds using proper lifting protocols.

Compensation

The full base pay range for this position is $33 - $50 hourly, not including bonuses or benefits. Your pay will be based on your experience, skills, and education, as well as internal equity to ensure fairness across the team. Candidates closer to the lower end of the range are typically building their expertise, while those at the higher end bring significant experience and specialized knowledge. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
