Job Description

Lead, Learning Experience Designer

The Lead, Learning Experience Designer serves as the anchor of the instructional design function, providing hands-on leadership across content strategy, quality assurance, and day-to-day project delivery. This role owns the standards that ensure instructional accuracy, brand consistency, and learning objective alignment across every engagement, while coordinating team workflows and feedback processes that keep projects moving on time and on quality. In addition to instructional design and QA responsibilities, this role also writes scripts for videos, e-learning narration, animations, and other multimedia learning assets, translating instructional content and learning objectives into clear, engaging, on-brand scripts suited for voiceover or on-screen delivery. This includes collaborating with multimedia developers, voice talent, and producers to ensure scripts translate effectively into finished media, and revising scripts based on QA review, client feedback, and production constraints while preserving instructional intent.

The role is designed to absorb day-to-day instructional design, content, and delivery decisions, freeing senior leadership to focus on portfolio strategy, sales enablement, client relationships, and service innovation.

What you'll do:

QA Process Ownership and Delivery Standards
  • Own the end-to-end QA process for all instructional content, establishing and maintaining consistent delivery standards across projects and clients.
  • Define, document, and continuously refine QA checkpoints, rubrics, and review workflows.
  • Serve as the final quality gate before content is delivered to clients or published to an LMS.

Instructional Accuracy and Content Compliance
  • Verify that all content is instructionally sound, factually accurate, and aligned with instructional design best practices.
  • Ensure content meets compliance requirements (accessibility, regulatory, client-specific standards, etc.).
  • Identify and resolve gaps between content and intended instructional outcomes.

Grammar, Brand Voice, and Learning Objective Alignment
  • Review content for grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency of tone.
  • Ensure all deliverables reflect the appropriate brand voice for each client or program.
  • Confirm that content, activities, and assessments are tightly aligned to stated learning objectives.

Workflow Coordination and Team Feedback Processes
  • Coordinate handoffs and dependencies across designers, writers, multimedia developers, and reviewers.
  • Establish structured feedback loops that give team members clear, actionable, and timely input.
  • Resolve bottlenecks in the review-and-revision cycle to keep projects on schedule.

Day-to-Day Project Delivery Oversight
  • Oversee daily execution across active projects, tracking progress against timelines and milestones.
  • Make real-time decisions on scope, sequencing, and resourcing to keep delivery on track.
  • Escalate risks or resourcing conflicts before they impact client commitments.

Instructional Design Leadership and Content Strategy
  • Provide hands-on instructional design leadership, setting direction for how learning experiences are structured and delivered.
  • Shape content strategy in partnership with leadership, translating client and business goals into instructional approaches.
  • Mentor and upskill team members on instructional design methodology and standards.

Content Alignment, Validation, and Cross-Client Delivery
  • Validate that content stays aligned to client requirements, brand guidelines, and instructional intent across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Maintain consistency of quality and approach across clients, even as project types and requirements vary.
  • Serve as a cross-project reference point for instructional standards.

QA Oversight and Delivery Process Ownership
  • Maintain ownership of the overall delivery process, ensuring QA is embedded at every stage rather than treated as a final check.
  • Continuously improve QA and delivery processes based on project retrospectives and client feedback.
  • Provide the stable oversight layer that ensures standards are maintained and continuously improved over time.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience leading instructional design and QA processes across multiple concurrent projects and clients.
  • Strong command of grammar, brand voice adaptation, and learning objective design.
  • Comfortable operating across varied project types (custom content, LMS migrations, consulting, multimedia learning) without needing separate specialists for each.
  • Track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and giving structured, effective feedback.
  • Able to balance hands-on execution with process ownership and continuous improvement

What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Communications, English, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 3 - 5+ years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or curriculum development, including experience in a lead or senior capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience owning QA processes and delivery standards across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience across varied project types including custom content development, LMS migrations, learning consulting, and multimedia learning.
  • Prior experience writing scripts for video, e-learning narration, or other multimedia assets.
  • Experience working directly with clients and cross-functional teams (writers, multimedia developers, SMEs) in an agency, consulting, or corporate L&D environment.
