Summary

As a Lead IT Spec (SysAdmin) at the GS-2210-14, you will be part of Ofc of the Chief Information Officer Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will lead enterprise infrastructure operations, implement cloud and server solutions, resolve system issues, oversee technology contracts and budgets, and guide teams delivering secure and reliable IT services.

Duties

Help

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud, server, virtual desktop, directory, file, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Develop infrastructure configurations, operating procedures, technical documentation, and implementation plans that support system reliability and security.
  • Lead troubleshooting and incident-response activities, resolve escalated server issues, and prepare after-action reports for agency leadership.
  • Evaluate technologies, infrastructure requirements, licensing, cloud usage, costs, risks, and implementation options to support agency decisions.
  • Oversee technology contracts, contractor performance, invoices, vendor relationships, acquisition activities, and assigned budget resources.
  • Assign and balance team workloads, establish milestones, monitor progress, provide technical guidance, and coach team members.
  • Communicate technical requirements, project status, risks, and recommendations to program offices, senior leaders, vendors, and external partners.

Qualifications

For the GS14: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service, or equivalent, performing information technology systems-administration work that includes:

  • Designing, implementing, or maintaining enterprise cloud, server, virtual desktop, directory, file, or productivity-platform services;
  • Developing infrastructure configurations, technical procedures, deployment documentation, or implementation plans for enterprise information technology services;
  • Troubleshooting and resolving server, cloud, identity, application-delivery, performance, security, or operational issues and recommending corrective actions;
  • Evaluating technologies, system requirements, resource usage, licensing, costs, risks, or implementation options and presenting recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders; and
  • Leading technical work by assigning or balancing tasks, establishing milestones, monitoring progress, coordinating contributors, and providing guidance on systems-administration projects.

Basic Requirement:
In addition to the Specialized Experience above, you must meet the basic requirements for the Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 as described below.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS 14 level.
