You act autonomously to manage several large projects with significant spend and complexity, navigating changing economic and political landscapes to prevent production risks and secure competitive advantages. You are responsible for ensuring Rivian meets aggressive cost targets and timelines while solving systemic challenges that affect long-term project health. We are looking for an expert thinker who is passionate about optimizing the sourcing process and driving organizational stability through advanced negotiation, creative non-monetary tradeoffs, and proactive risk prevention.

This position is based onsite in Atlanta (Social Circle), GA or Plymouth, MI and reports to Director, Global Supply Management, Capex.

  • Technical Understanding: Apply significant experience to manage commodities; create and drive strategies that align with both procurement and stakeholder goals.
  • Negotiations: Lead negotiations for most commercial terms with very limited legal involvement; apply creative thinking and non-monetary tradeoffs to achieve cost mitigation.
  • Supplier Management: Maintain strong relationships at the supplier Senior Management level; resolve conflicts and drive accountability with minimal escalation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Leverage industry knowledge to build strong relationships; proactively communicate risk-mitigation information to leadership and act as a cross-functional advisor.
  • Project Management and Risk Mitigation: Lead large-scale projects with autonomy; develop risk mapping to proactively identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Data Analysis: Develop and track KPIs to indicate category health; translate complex datasets for non-expert audiences and executives.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Domain Expertise: Significant experience managing commodities and a full understanding of the procurement end-to-end lifecycle.
  • Commodity-Specific Experience: Capex, Paint Shop, Construction, or similar technical commodity experience
  • Technical Skills: Expert user of Supply Chain systems (SAP, Basecamp) and proficient in reviewing cost breakdowns against cost estimation models to identify risks.
  • Communication: An interpreter of information; able to facilitate productive conversations and gain buy-in with a clear vision across diverse working groups.
  • Execution: Proactively identifies risks/opportunities by looking beyond the immediate task and advises leadership on appropriate strategy.
