Grow Into Leadership.A growing commercial specialty contractor is looking for an experienced Lead Estimator / Preconstruction Manager to play a key role in expanding its commercial painting and wallcovering business.
This is not a traditional estimating-only position. You'll remain hands-on with estimating and bidding while helping build the systems, relationships, and team structure needed to take the preconstruction department to the next level.
What You'll Do- Lead commercial Division 9 paint and wallcovering estimating from takeoff through proposal
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness
- Build relationships with general contractors, owners, and industry partners
- Follow up on bids and help convert opportunities into backlog
- Identify and pursue negotiated work and future project opportunities
- Partner with operations and project management to ensure smooth project turnover
- Help establish more efficient estimating processes, standards, and systems
- Mentor and support the development of additional estimators as the department grows
- Work directly with company leadership on growth and preconstruction strategy
What We're Looking For- 5+ years of commercial Division 9 / paint estimating experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial interior and exterior painting, coatings, and wallcoverings
- Proven ability to independently perform takeoffs, pricing, scope review, and proposals
- Experience with PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar software
- Strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Someone who takes ownership and doesn't need to be constantly directed
- Leadership or mentoring experience is a plus
