Your Day to Day - Represent Jacobsen as an experienced, professional and fully competent estimator, may meet with potential clients.
- Prepare estimates for use in project bids and vendor/subcontractor selection
- Develop winning strategies for bid edges, favors, coverage, etc.
- Lead hand-off meetings to project management
- Track costs in Viewpoint to understand productivity and actual costs on similar type projects
- Lead preconstruction on design build projects, conceptual estimating, working with design team to manage budgets
- Review progress documents and understand costs associated with logistics of the project, ie., crane requirements, earthwork retention systems, etc.
- Review soils report to understand recommendations and impacts to construction costs, ie., dewatering requirements, soil type and layback requirements, type of soils, ground improvements, etc.
- Participate and assist in value engineering / cost saving measures
- Prepare general conditions and review with Project Executive
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Perform thorough, detailed and accurate analysis.
- Prepare proposals and budgets based on minimal information, following established standards and in the time frame and format required
- Ensure project budgets are maintained by closely reviewing progress documents
- Track costs in Viewpoint or other project budgeting systems
- Communicate effectively in written and verbal communications to ensure understanding of estimates in the bid process, with project managers and with vendors/sub-contractors.
- Be able to accept constructive criticism and deal effectively with high-stress situations.
Education & Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, Building Science or other equivalent program
- Three to Five years of substantially similar experience
