Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Lead Environmental Specialist to join the Technical and Environmental Services Group at the BWI Marshall Airport field office. This position responsibilities include project management, technical oversight and compliance for deicing, stormwater, and sanitary related projects at BWI and Martin State Airports as well as providing support to other environmental projects, as needed.
This field office is a designated 24/7 emergency essential facility. Therefore, the ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during adverse weather conditions will be required.
Estimated Pay Range:
$70,193.76 – $96,532.80

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, biology, chemistry, geology or a related field from an accredited college or university plusfive years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, two years of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and supervising environmental professional and technical staff.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and strong organization skills are essential to this position.The position consists primarily of field work and requires the ability to perform confined space entry and lift 50 pounds.
Note: Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of experience.
Applicants must have the ability to obtain a Homeland Security Clearance and must have a valid driver27s license with less than 5 points.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have project management and supervisory experience in the areas of environmental compliance, recycling, and field site operations; have demonstrated strong leadership, communication, budget and contract management skills, as well as the ability to independently work to provide oversight, planning, and financial management support on a wide range of environmental projects supporting numerous programs. A well-qualified candidate will have experience in staff leadership and workload planning and coordination, the ability to participate in team organization, strong and time effective communication skills, development and coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders for the success of the team27s programs.
Training Requirements
Possession of a valid driver27s license meeting the requirements of Maryland law, the MES Fleet Policy and other MES Policies.
All required certifications may be obtained on the job and provided by MES

MDE Drinking Water Sampler Certification
First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
