About the role:

As a Lead Engineer you will be supporting customer needs and leading the site engineering team to execute projects for the safe operation of Vogtle 3 & 4. Knowledge of AP1000 product / technology area necessary to support customer interactions / negotiations as well as engage in emergent customer issues, and support resolution of challenges during execution of ongoing projects. You will work with SNC to guide more engineering work into Westinghouse to perform the Design Change Package work, perform other AE work and continue tuning the AP1000 design.

You will report to the Manager, Operating Plants Electrical Engineering. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote flexibility two days per week with regular on-site collaboration 3 days per week at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant near Waynesboro, GA.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee onsite Westinghouse engineers (matrix reporting), with knowledge of utility specific skills and procedures.
  • Build customer relationships and serve as a contact with the SNC customer; provide regular communication and updates to all partners.
  • Leadership and coordination during preparation of proposals (work package definition, coordination of technical descriptions, scheduling, calculation of efforts, hour and cost estimations)
  • Develop important customer relationships to facilitate understanding of customer needs and create proposals with value proposition to meet customer needs and secure OE.
  • Engage on emergent customer issues, leading teams until project management is available and engaged, ultimately working with collective team to develop technical and commercial solution. Collaborate with project teams to understand status of projects, supporting resolution of challenges during project execution
  • Develop relationships with company partners, such as GES resource managers, to ensure people, processes and technology are available to deliver offer commitments and promote market growth. Collaborate with GES resource managers to produce high quality proposals.
  • Ensure good understanding of Intellectual Property aspects of offers and ongoing projects; facilitate needed discussions to develop position on IP.
  • Collaborate and co-ordinate with peer leaders in OMS to ensure cohesive approach to market and holistic customer support and satisfaction (e.g., FAC inspections + FAC program engineering).
  • Ensure internal procedures and standards adherence
  • Ensure compliance with KPIs.
  • Improve and recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products, processes, and/or procedures, and contributes to development of new methods and processes, and their introduction


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant and progressively more responsible leadership experience required.
  • Work on-site three days per week.
  • Excellent team building skills with an ability to engage with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Leadership qualities and abilities and teamwork oriented
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Up to 10% travel of occasional trips to other Westinghouse offices


We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $116,800 to $146,000 per year.
