Lead Engineer
What this job involves:

As a Lead Engineer at JLL, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of critical building systems while leading a skilled maintenance team. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibility, overseeing contractors and service providers to guarantee the highest quality of work and adherence to JLL health and safety standards. You'll direct the performance of maintenance service requests, ensuring work is accomplished efficiently with minimal disruption. You'll implement preventative maintenance programs, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and foster a culture of continuous learning within your team. What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Supervise and direct maintenance staff, monitoring their performance and assigned responsibilities to ensure all work meets established service level requirements
  • Oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring quality of work and strict adherence to JLL health and safety standards across all activities
  • Manage the Maintenance Management system for all engineering practices, including planned and reactive tasks, ensuring seamless execution with minimal building disruption
  • Check malfunctioning equipment, diagnose issues, and determine corrective actions required to restore systems to satisfactory operating condition
  • Supervise and implement the preventative maintenance program, including scheduling tasks, delegating to qualified staff, ordering parts and equipment, and maintaining inventory
  • Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on commercial HVAC equipment including RTUs, AHUs, VAVs, terminal units, exhaust fans, pumps, and related components
  • Troubleshoot non-routine HVAC issues such as comfort complaints, airflow problems, equipment failures, and controls-related symptoms, implementing effective corrective actions
  • Provide hands-on training and supervision to operations staff, demonstrating proper use of tools, basic maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Ensure all work orders are created, completed, and closed in full compliance with SLAs and the CMMS (Corrigo), maintaining accurate documentation and records
Required qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma plus two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
  • 5+ years of building engineering management, facilities management, data center management, or related experience with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Strong knowledge of mission critical cooling systems, power systems, mechanical systems, and fire suppression systems
  • Knowledge of Electrical/Arc Flash Safety standards (NFPA 70E) and ability to carry out all work in a health and safety conscious manner
  • Working familiarity with Microsoft Office, Outlook, AutoCAD, and Integrated Work Maintenance Management System (IWMS) software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to produce clear oral and written reports
  • Availability for shift work, weekend work, and on-call escalated problems on a 24/7/365 basis
Preferred qualifications:
  • Electrical or HVAC licenses
  • Project management skills and experience leading technical projects from initiation to completion
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to manage client interactions professionally and effectively
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate or corporate facilities management environments
