Job Summary:The Lead CSA Field Engineer will supervise field engineering activities for Civil, Structural, and Architectural scopes on a small to medium project or assigned operating area. This role leads assigned field engineers, coordinates closely with construction, design engineering, startup, subcontractors, and client representatives, and helps ensure work is planned, documented, and executed safely, correctly, and on schedule. The position is responsible for supporting construction readiness, quantity control, material coordination, technical issue resolution, and turnover activities in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
Major Responsibilities:- Lead and supervise assigned field engineering staff, set priorities, support employee development, and promote consistent use of project procedures and work processes.
- Support staffing, training, and resource planning for the assigned discipline or operating area.
- Maintain clear communication between field engineering and design engineering to support constructability, engineering deliverables, and timely issue resolution.
- Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and other disciplines to plan work, sequence activities, and support Installation Work Package readiness.
- Support temporary construction facility planning and ensure field sketches, as-built drawings, and related job plans are properly prepared and maintained.
- Review cost, schedule, progress, and quantity information to support forecasting, performance analysis, and construction work planning.
- Coordinate field-procured materials, material substitutions, services, and equipment; confirm receiving and warehousing activities support construction needs.
- Oversee quantity takeoff, quantity reporting, field engineering automation tools, and related data quality for the assigned scope.
- Champion safe work practices, housekeeping, environmental controls, permit tracking, and compliance with applicable project procedures.
- Oversee subcontract field activities to confirm work, materials, equipment, inspection records, and documentation meet design, specification, and contract requirements.
- Coordinate with startup and turnover teams to support walkdowns, punchlist validation, turnover data integrity, and completions reporting.
- Review and approve inspection test plans, subcontractor submittals, invoices, RFIs, field changes, and related documentation within delegated authority.
Education and Experience Requirements:Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8 -10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
Required Knowledge and Skills:- Experience leading field engineering teams, setting priorities, developing staff, and coordinating work across construction, engineering, project controls, startup, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Strong knowledge of CSA construction execution, constructability, temporary facilities, field sketches, as-built documentation, Installation Work Packages, and turnover processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, codes, vendor documents, model information, and contract requirements to support field execution.
- Experience with quantity takeoff, progress reporting, forecasting, automation tools, and data-driven construction performance analysis.
- Knowledge of field procurement, material receiving, warehousing, preservation, material readiness, safety, quality, environmental, permit, inspection, and test plan requirements.
- Ability to identify risks, resolve field issues, gain stakeholder alignment, and escalate concerns that may affect safety, quality, cost, or schedule.
