Job Summary

The Lead-Compliance Specialist advises on compliant, risk-based solutions that help the organization achieve its goals. This Compliance position effectively and independently influences internal business partners regarding new business and marketing initiatives to support, drive, and execute against Compliance strategies and strategic roadmaps in accordance with established timeframes, regulatory agility expectations, and emerging technology and AI governance. The Lead-Compliance Specialist advises and engages in complex compliance matters, escalates issues and risks to senior leadership, and presents to larger audiences as appropriate.

Essential Job Functions

  • Independently champions compliance programs and areas of focus, applying strategic influence and risk-based decision-making to influence business outcomes. Serves as an internal stakeholder by advising business partners on risk assessments, projects, and regulatory change management, while promoting regulatory agility across a fragmented and evolving regulatory landscape. - (40%)
  • Drives the timely resolution of issues. Analyzes themes and actions appropriately. Advises business partners on the mitigation of risks through implementation of policies, procedures, processes, and controls - (25%)
  • Understands the short- and long-term goals of the organization. Applies strategic thinking to develop appropriate solutions to mitigate regulatory risks. - (20%)
  • Has a consistent enterprise-wide and risk-based thinking approach. Champions and educates business partners on the Risk and Control Self-Assessment program (RCSA). - (15%)


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 8-10 years experience in Consumer credit, banking compliance, and/or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Compliance, Risk, or Business.
  • Subject matter expertise in Compliance, Risk, Privacy, or Legal background (CRCM, CERP, CIPP or JD).
  • Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM)
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS
  • 5+ years with open End Consumer Credit Card Lending and Banking Compliance (Fair Lending, Regulation B/ECOA, TILA/Regulation Z, FCRA, and UDAAP), and leading people indirectly.
  • Analytical, solution-oriented, and advocacy to execute in a strategic advisor

Work Environment

  • Normal office environment. (Remote or Hybrid), 3 to 4 days per month are expected in office if within 60 miles of a posted Bread Financial location.

Salary Range (unless otherwise noted below):

$112,400.00 - $179,900.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $129,300.00 - $224,900.00 Colorado: $112,400.00 - $197,900.00 New York: $123,600.00 - $224,900.00 Washington: $123,600.00 - $206,900.00 Maryland: $123,600.00 - $197,900.00 Washington DC: $129,300.00 - $206,900.00 Illinois: $112,400.00 - $197,900.00 New Jersey: $129,300.00 - $206,900.00 Vermont: $112,400.00 - $179,900.00 Ohio: $112,400.00 - $179,900.00 Maine: $112,400.00 - $179,900.00 Connecticut: $123,600.00 - $197,900.00 Virginia: $112,400.00 - $179,900.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.


You must be work authorized in the United States on a full time basis without the need for any sponsorship now or in the future from any employer or organization. The Company cannot offer employment to F-1 (student) visa holders.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26.  New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period).  Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period.   Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
