This role requires a minimum of 40% on-site presence at 1800 Alta Vista Drive, Ottawa. Additional on-site work may be required based on business needs. On-site expectations are subject to change and may be adjusted on a temporary or permanent basis.

About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Lead, Coaching and Mentoring to join our dynamic Learning and Development team in our People, Culture and Performance (PCP) division in Ottawa.

The Learning and Development team is responsible for designing and implementing innovative and engaging leadership and employee development strategies and programs to meet current and future organizational needs.

In this role, you will shape how coaching, mentoring and talent assessments support career and leadership growth across the organization. You will design and manage impactful coaching and mentoring programs, provide one-on-one and group coaching, expand mentoring and assessment offerings, and lead an internal network of volunteer coaches. This role is well suited to someone who combines strategic thinking with strong execution capabilities and hands-on coaching and adult learning expertise.

Formula for success

  • Drawing on your expertise in coaching, mentoring, and talent assessment, you will design and implement tailored programs that accelerate leadership development and strengthen the talent pipeline across the organization.
  • Applying your experience in facilitation and adult learning design, you will leverage a digital mentoring platform to stand up new mentoring programs that advance equitable and inclusive access to development.
  • Using your strong coaching skills, you will guide leaders through meaningful one-on-one and group coaching conversations, helping them build self-awareness, set clear goals and achieve lasting behavioural change.
  • Applying your knowledge of assessment tools and talent practices, you will lead career and leadership assessments that inform development decisions and enhance succession planning outcomes.
  • Leveraging your ability to work with data and evaluation methods, you will establish metrics, assess program effectiveness and continuously improve offerings to increase impact and reach.
  • Through your leadership and facilitation skills, you will build and support a network of internal volunteer coaches and mentors, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of coaching practices.
  • By collaborating with colleagues, partners and clients, you will embed coaching and mentoring into the organizational culture and ensure programs align with broader learning and talent strategies.


Desired education and skills

  • Accreditation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), ACC or above, and coaching certification from an ICF accredited education program. PCC (Professional Certified Coach) Designation is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in human development, psychology, education, human resources, organizational development, or a related field; master's degree is an asset.
  • CTDP or CTP certification, Certificate in Adult Learning, CHRP certification are considered assets.
  • Minimum 8 years progressive experience in learning and development, leadership development, talent management, change management, human resources, consulting or organizational development.
  • Experience in program or project management, as well as proven experience in designing and implementing impactful coaching and mentoring programs and initiatives, with a focus on career and leadership development.
  • Expertise in selecting, administering and interpreting psychometric talent assessments: B-level certification in any of the following assessments is an asset: EQ-I 2.0/EQ 360, Leadership Profile 360, DISC, LEA (Leadership Effectiveness Analysis), The Leadership Circle, Gallup Clifton Strengths, Birkman, Hogan Leadership Forecast Suite, FIRO-B.
  • Experience implementing or supporting talent assessment and succession planning programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of adult education principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of science and practice of human and organizational behaviour, career and leadership development theories and practices.
  • Superior collaboration skills and ability to build strong relationships with senior leaders and various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and reconciliation efforts and their application in coaching and mentoring.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation methods.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw meaningful insights for program improvement.
  • Experience working with digital coaching and mentoring platforms, or similar tools.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of coaching and mentoring industry best practices.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
