This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer to join our Facilities team. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer looking to expand their technical expertise, take greater ownership of projects, and contribute to complex, high-performing facility and infrastructure projects across multiple market sectors.

This role is open to the following locations:

Boise, ID, Madison, WI, or Minneapolis, MN

About the Role

Our Facilities group delivers innovative civil engineering solutions for food & beverage, federal, and industrial facilities, with a strong emphasis on quality, collaboration, and forward-thinking design. In this role, you will support site civil design efforts from concept through construction and play a key role in delivering successful projects.

Typical responsibilities include grading and drainage design for new building sites, renovations, and expansions, as well as utility coordination, access road design, permitting support, and construction phase services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform site civil design including grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management for facility projects
  • Develop design solutions using AutoCAD Civil 3D and terrain modeling tools to support 3D coordination and visualization
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, and contractors
  • Support permitting and regulatory agency coordination
  • Assist with construction administration and respond to field questions as needed
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and contribute to overall project success
  • Apply WSP's quality management processes, including QA/QC reviews
  • Demonstrate sound engineering judgment while adapting and applying engineering principles, codes, and standards
  • Grow toward leading projects with guidance, mentoring, and oversight from senior engineers

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 7-10 years of relevant civil engineering experience
  • Ability to perform work requiring independent judgment, adaptation, and modification of engineering principles and procedures
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Land development
    • Municipal utility design
    • Water resources
    • Environmental engineering
  • Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrologic analysis, grading, and site development design
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing project needs
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage tasks and deliver results
  • Interest in developing client relationships and understanding client needs


Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Financial incentive may apply for California PE licensure
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation InRoads
  • Familiarity with stormwater modeling tools such as HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, HydraFlow, or Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis
  • BIM coordination knowledge
  • Foundation design experience
  • Previous consulting engineering experience

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200- $160,000 (all locations)

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
