Who We Are Looking ForWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead AI Engineer to join State Street's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Technology team. You will lead the design, development, and production deployment of enterprise generative AI and agentic AI solutions that improve business outcomes and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate combines deep AI engineering expertise with strong cloud, data, and software engineering skills. You will take solutions from concept to production while ensuring security, scalability, reliability, governance, and measurable business value.
What You Will Be Responsible For- Lead the end-to-end delivery of enterprise generative AI and agentic AI solutions, from ideation and proof of concept through production support.
- Design AI applications using large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, semantic search, tool calling, memory, and agent orchestration.
- Build scalable data ingestion, transformation, and retrieval pipelines in Databricks for structured and unstructured enterprise data.
- Develop secure APIs, microservices, and cloud-native services on AWS.
- Establish reusable frameworks, engineering standards, evaluation methods, observability, monitoring, tracing, and guardrails.
- Partner with business, product, compliance, security, cloud, data, and platform teams to identify and deliver high-value use cases.
- Optimize solutions for performance, reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, help build the team's AI engineering capability and also manage direct reports in future.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Five or more years of technology experience, including at least two years focused on generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, or AI platform engineering.
- Proven experience delivering enterprise applications from concept through production.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience developing cloud-native solutions on AWS.
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, data pipelines, and lakehouse architecture.
- Experience with CI/CD, GitHub, containers, infrastructure as code, application security, monitoring, and production support.
Required Technical SkillsAI & Agentic AI- Generative AI and agentic AI architectures, including LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, tool calling, memory, and orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, Strands, Pydantic AI, AutoGen, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with foundation models and services such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Llama, or comparable platforms.
- Knowledge of AI evaluation, observability, guardrails, responsible AI, and human-in-the-loop controls.
Software Engineering & Cloud- Python, APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native application development.
- AWS services such as Bedrock, S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS or EKS, IAM, and PostgreSQL.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $157,500 Annual
