Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to support daily operations oversight within our energy laboratory in Houston, TX.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on laboratory leader with experience in hydrocarbon, petroleum, or energy testing within a fast-paced analytical laboratory environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and results-driven professional with strong supervisory skills, technical knowledge of ASTM and industry testing methods, and a proven ability to support laboratory operations, drive efficiency, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do
  • Supervise daily petroleum and hydrocarbon testing operations in a fast-paced analytical laboratory environment
  • Manage laboratory workflow, personnel schedules, sample prioritization, and turnaround times
  • Support routine testing and analysis of hydrocarbon and energy-related samples
  • Train, mentor, and develop laboratory technicians by providing ongoing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations, support career development, and address performance concerns as needed
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and analytical equipment
  • Ensure compliance with ASTM methods, SOPs, QA/QC standards, accreditation requirements, and laboratory safety procedures
  • Review analytical data, QC results, and laboratory reports for accuracy and compliance
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, analytical methods, and sample preparation issues to maintain productivity and minimize downtime
  • Monitor laboratory productivity, sample throughput, inventory levels, and operational performance metrics
  • Support audits, CAPA investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory staff on analytical methods, instrumentation, troubleshooting, and best laboratory practices
  • Generate client reports and respond to client inquiries regarding testing results and laboratory services
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or related scientific discipline
  • 3+ years of progressive hands-on analytical laboratory experience in oil and gas, energy, petroleum, or other regulated testing environments
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience within an analytical laboratory setting
  • Demonstrated experience with laboratory instrumentation, analytical testing methods, quality systems, and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and LIMS


Work Schedule & Travel
  • Full-time, onsite position
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as needed to support operational demands
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, audits, meetings, or operational support activities
