Job Summary and QualificationsThe Laboratory Manager oversees and supports the technical and administrative operations of the Clinical Laboratory, to include employee oversight and staffing, regulatory compliance, quality and PI activities, problem resolution, compliance, and other areas as assigned.
Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in relevant sciences such as medical technology, biology, or chemistry, with medical technologist certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
National licensure (ASCP, AMT, etc.)
Licensed with the State of Tennessee Health Department as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor
Minimum of five years of experience supervising multiple areas of the Laboratory.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Exempt, Full-time. Flexibility in scheduling to meet the demands of the department.
Responsibilities:
• Supervises all technical operations of lab.
• Reviews, evaluates and monitors quality control programs of the
laboratory.
• Supervises and schedules all personnel directly or indirectly through delegation.
• Enforces hospital and lab policies.
• Represents Laboratory on various hospital committees.
• Ensures that all preventive maintenance/repairs are completed.
• Manages the external Proficiency Testing programming.
• Handles any problems/complaints from physicians, patients or clients.
• Oversees Laboratory computer system, reviews test dictionaries, up-dates procedure codes/CPT codes.
• Oversees Laboratory Performance Improvement program.
• Ensures that laboratory employees are current for all required continuing education and competencies.
• Inventory reagents and supplies and order as needed.
• Assists Lab director in ensuring that lab is in compliance with all regulatory agencies and accreditation standards.
• Assists Lab director in preparing for any inspections (re. State, CAP, JCAHO, etc.)
• Assures quality of all testing.
• Maintains up to date technical knowledge.
• Perform necessary lab testing routinely.
• Manages new employee orientation/training.
