Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns throughout the childbirth process. The RN will be responsible for monitoring patients during labor, assisting with deliveries, and supporting both patients and families in a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
- Monitor fetal heart rates, contractions, and maternal vital signs; respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV therapy and epidural support
- Assist physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary teams during vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Provide emotional support, education, and guidance to patients and their families throughout the birthing process
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and participate in rapid interventions when needed
- Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients and newborns
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Louisiana (or eligibility to obtain)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Minimum of 1-2 years of Labor & Delivery experience preferred (new graduates with relevant clinical rotations may be considered)
- Current certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB)
- Experience in high-risk obstetrics
Work Schedule:
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
Salary Range:
- $32.00 - $48.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications
