Qualifications

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification, with quarterly RQI competency post-hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Maternal-Fetal Assessments for expecting mothers.
  • Provide pain management support to laboring patients.
  • Stabilize and transition normal newborns at delivery.
  • Circulate for Cesarean Sections and care for post-surgical patients.
  • Assist anesthesiologists with epidural insertion and regional anesthesia care.
  • Care for high-risk maternity patients and assess post-partum patients.
  • Educate and support breastfeeding mothers in their journey.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for serving as the primary Registered Nurse delivering care to patients who are admitted to the Family Birth Center. This patient population may include low-risk and high-risk pregnancies, as well as providing care to postpartum patients and well newborns.

   

Essential Job Functions:

 

● Conducts Maternal-Fetal Assessment.● Provides nursing support to the laboring patients, utilizing pharmacological andnon-pharmacological pain management.● Provides stabilization and transition of the normal newborn at delivery.● Circulates for Cesarean Sections.● Cares for the post-surgical patient.● Assists the anesthesiologist with insertion of an epidural and provides care to the patient withregional anesthesia.● Provides care to the High-Risk maternity patient● Assesses and cares for post-partum and newborn patients.● Identifies and provides appropriate interventions to mothers with post-partum complications.● Provides support and education to breast-feeding mothers.● Identifies full-term infants at risk for complications and provides appropriate care to the full-terminfant with complications.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing upon hire and one to two years Med/Surg experience with completion of Mother/Baby Education program or, New graduate with completion of senior practicum in L&D, Mother/Baby unit or nursery.
  • Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire 
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program, within 6 of date of hire 

Preferred

  • Bachelors Of Science Nursing and One year of related work experience in an acute care setting, upon hire 
  • Previous Mother-Baby experience 
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring offered by National Certification Corporation (NCC), or American Nurses Credentialing Center certification
