Qualifications

  • Serve as a resource for nursing staff across various departments.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Registered Nurse (RN) in the Family Birth Center, you will help individuals and families receive holistic, effective, and appropriate care so they can experience safe and confidential care from admission to discharge.

 

Every day you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, focusing on the needs of perinatal patients and their families. You will be expected to utilize your clinical and technical skills, document accurately, collaborate with the healthcare team, and provide leadership in patient care while maintaining a safe environment and upholding patient safety standards.

  • Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.
  • Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.
  • Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.
  • Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
  • Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.
  • Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students in a constructive and positive manner. Serves as resource to staff from other nursing departments.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum 1 year Labor and Delivery experience. (Exception: When the unit is staffed with enough experienced nurses to support a trainee or graduate nurse, applicants without requisite experience may be considered.)
  • Intermediate Fetal Monitoring experience
  • Active Registered Nurse License in the State of California
  • Basic Life Support - CPR from the American Heart Association
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association, within 6 months of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), within 6 months of hire

Preferred

  • C/Section/PACU experience
  • PostPartum/Newborn Nursery Unit experience
