About the Role:The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the clinical laboratory, with a focus on the core laboratory. This role ensures accurate and timely testing, regulatory compliance, quality control, and efficient workflow. The supervisor provides leadership to laboratory staff, facilitates training and competency, and promotes a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Schedule:Tuesday-Friday, 2:00 PM-10:00 PM; Saturday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
You Will:- Supervise daily operations of the clinical/core laboratory, including test performance, specimen handling, and workflow coordination.
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with CLIA, Joint Commission, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Monitor and maintain quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing
programs. - Oversee staff scheduling, workload distribution, and performance management.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate laboratory technologists, technicians, and assistants;
maintain competency and training documentation. - Assist with the development, revision, and implementation of standard operating
procedures (SOPs). - Collaborate with user experience to address service issues and improve laboratory
operations. - Investigate testing anomalies, equipment malfunctions, and non-conformances; initiate
and document corrective actions. - Participate in instrument validation, method verification, and implementation of new
assays or equipment. - Ensure inventory of reagents and supplies is maintained and monitor equipment service
schedules. - Prepare operational reports, track performance metrics, and contribute to
departmental planning and improvement initiatives. - Other duties as requested by laboratory management.
You Have:- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field required.
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP, or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum of 4+ years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a chemistry and/or hematology laboratory environment.
- At least 2 years supervisory or lead technologist experience.
- Proficient in laboratory information systems (LIS) and data analysis tools.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a
fast-paced setting. - Experience with core laboratory platforms such as Hamilton, Sysmex, and Roche analyzers (preferred)
