Job Highlights
Make a difference in L&I's Data Analysis by performing the design, development, and implementation of reporting solutions that promote the agency's strategic and tactical direction and business process improvements. In this role, you'll participate in building the foundation for tracking agency business processes and program metrics and encourage the use of data for making decisions. You'll work closely with agency executive management and primarily support the Employer Services and Claims Administration programs of the Insurance Services division.

Duties
Some of what you'll do:
  • Elicit, clarify and refine data and business reporting requirements from customers, including interpreting customer needs or situation to design data solutions and innovative and effective approaches to solve analytic problems
  • Develop model of final output, verifying availability and validity of data required to produce the desired result
  • Write code using tools such as Hyperion Studio, SAS (Statistical Analysis System), SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio), SSRS (SQL Server Reporting System), and languages including SQL (Structured Query Language) and JavaScript. Extract, analyze, manipulate and format data from the agency's data warehouse and integrate with other data sources.
  • Evaluate results to verify accuracy and usability of data to fulfill the intent of the request. Determine appropriate method to remove, amend, exclude data, or revise coding logic and implement as necessary.
  • Create and distribute highly complex statistical reports, which may be a multi-paged Excel document, including datasets, charts and graphs, a Word document, Power Point presentation, or a web based interactive report (Business Intelligence Center).
  • Advises project teams so that accurate, intelligible data is available in easily interpreted forms to support decision making.

Qualifications
Required:
A Bachelor's degree including college level coursework in Statistics and/or Mathematics

AND

Three years of year experience working as a Data Consultant 3 or equivalent. Graduate training in related discipline may be substituted for up to two years of experience.

Equivalent education/experience.
Required Equity Competencies:

Desired:

  • Three years' experience within the Employer Services program of Labor and Industries as an Industrial Insurance Underwriter or three years' experience within the Claims Administration program as a Workers' Compensation Adjudicator.
  • One years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate Hyperion Reporting Studio, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL
  • Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SAS (Statistical Analysis System), SharePoint and Excel skills
  • Intermediate JavaScript skills
  • Knowledge of Kimball Data Warehouse design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
