Full Job Description
As a Key Account Manager at Marqeta, you will manage strategic accounts, focusing on relationship-building, revenue growth, and addressing customer needs through insightful solutions and data-driven strategies. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide exceptional client service, uncover revenue-generating opportunities, and deliver workable solutions to your customers.

This position requires a proactive, resourceful team player who has the ability to take ownership of projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and to see those initiatives to completion while streamlining processes and allowing our team to scale the growth of our business. No day is the same in this role, as this role is key to working across our partners, customers, and organization to drive innovation in the industry.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We'd love for you to join us!

The Impact You'll Have

This role performs a wide range of activities, including maintaining and growing revenue by identifying new upsell and cross-sell opportunities, in addition to:
  • Collaborate with AE partners to drive all aspects of a customer growth and retention strategy, including:
  • Day-to-day management of customer portfolio.
  • Ensure partnership and programs are running smoothly and successfully.
  • Be a trusted leader to the customer and help them navigate the payments landscape.
  • Create monthly customer-centric content to keep the broader organization apprised of customer updates, key metrics, and other information pertinent to the Revenue & Go To Market team.
  • Add strategic value to the team by identifying opportunities to drive business and process improvements.
  • Develop and deliver high-impact presentation materials in Powerpoint/Google Slides, Word/Google Docs, and Excel/Google Sheets (QBRs, Executive Briefing Decks, process outlines, etc.).
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify macro, business, technology, and pipeline trends for key customers.

Who You Are
  • Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree;
  • Organization Master: Staying on top of all matters in-flight by documenting, tracking, and supporting the daily functioning and operations of customer programs. Attention to detail and professionalism is key in all communications.
  • Self-Starter: You don't sit around and wait for things to happen. You're aggressive about getting the necessary tasks done while also anticipating needs before they arise.
  • Curious: Your passion for knowledge and learning drives you to constantly dig deeper to understand your customers, Marqeta, our technology, and the payments industry. Come to the table with potential solutions rather than problems.
  • Strategic Connector: Build relationships and navigate internal teams in order to get answers, drive progress, and create solutions in a timely manner.
  • FinTech Fascination: You want to develop a deep knowledge of disruption in the payments space while working with the top innovators in the space. Strong skill-set working with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, IF statements, SUMIFs, etc.).

To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.

Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA

Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

Within our Revenue organization at Marqeta, On Target Earnings (OTE) is composed of a mix between annual salary and variable compensation, which is earned based on your individual performance and that of your immediate team.

When determining an OTE figure we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire OTE range for this position is:
  • National: $173,700 - $217,100
  • Premium: $188,000 - $235,000
  • Premium Plus: $204,300 - $255,400
