Full Job Description
ALBANY LAW SCHOOL, in New York's Capital City, invites applications from senior scholars of national prominence to fill its Kate Stoneman Chair in Law and Democracy beginning in July 2027. The Chair commemorates Albany Law School graduate of 1898, Kate Stoneman, the first woman to graduate from the school and the first woman admitted to the Bar in New York, where she worked tirelessly for women's rights and other important causes of the time. The Stoneman Chair was established to honor Stoneman's legacy and to ensure that her contributions to society are recognized and continued at Albany Law School by inspiring new generations of students in the legal profession to engage with the pressing legal challenges of the day.

Qualifications

The Chair is not subject specific. Rather, we welcome candidates with national reputations for innovation and excellence in their field of scholarship, strong teaching, and the commitment to inspiring students to engage with the pressing legal issues of their day throughout their legal careers. We seek applicants who are making a recognized impact in their field of law and inspiring colleagues and students to do so as well. This is a tenured position.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000-$160,000, plus comprehensive benefits package. Salary will be based on the rank and tenure status of the appointment, the successful candidate's relevant experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
