Position Description:

CGI is seeking an Junior AWS Production Support Engineer to provide Level 1 and Level 2 application support for business-critical systems running in AWS within a financial services environment. This role combines production support and troubleshooting with Python automation, SQL, monitoring, and application release support.

The engineer will monitor production and non-production applications, respond to alerts and incidents, review logs and metrics, and use the AWS console and related monitoring tools to investigate application and infrastructure issues. The role will also support SQL and database activities, application releases, batch processes, and basic automation of repetitive operational tasks.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early career engineer who has practical AWS experience and wants to build deeper skills in cloud production support, automation, and financial market applications.
This position is required in one of the following locations: Lafayette, LA, Knoxville, TN, Columbia, SC, Birmingham, AL

Your future duties and responsibilities:

. Provide Level 1 and Level 2 production support for AWS hosted applications.
. Monitor applications and respond to alerts, incidents, failed jobs, and operational issues.
. Use the AWS console, CloudWatch, Splunk, and Linux logs to investigate production issues.
. Perform initial troubleshooting and escalate complex issues to engineering or Level 3 support teams.
. Use SQL to support queries, database activities, batch processes, and operational troubleshooting.
. Develop Python scripts to automate repetitive production support activities.
. Assist with application releases and investigate failures within GitLab or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
. Identify recurring operational issues and recommend automation or process improvements.
. Document investigation results and maintain clear incident and support records.
. Manage incident, problem, and change records using ServiceNow and Jira.
. Learn application specific procedures, dashboards, dependencies, and escalation paths.
. Participate in production on call coverage and support planned releases and after hours incidents as needed.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. 2+ years of hands on AWS experience and confidence navigating the AWS Management Console.
. AWS Associate level certification; an expired Associate certification may be considered if current AWS knowledge can be demonstrated.
. Python scripting experience with the ability to automate basic operational tasks.
. Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
. Production/application support experience, including troubleshooting, incident investigation, and log analysis.
. Basic knowledge of Linux environments and command line troubleshooting.
. Familiarity with application monitoring, alerts, logs, and production support processes.
. Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and application release processes.
. Ability to investigate application alerts, failed jobs or transactions, deployment failures, and AWS service issues.
. Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the judgment to resolve routine issues or escalate appropriately.
. Clear communication, accountability, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a production environment.

Desired Skillset:
Splunk, Amazon CloudWatch, ServiceNow, Jira, GitLab, Terraform, and experience supporting Bloomberg, Tradeweb, or other financial market applications.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $62,900.00 $110,100.00.
