Position Summary

This position will provide leadership to IT professionals on the adaptation and use of Java development tools and methods. Assignments made by the Area Supervisor or Project Leader involve working with various DOT business areas to develop solutions with many complex variables and also help in modernizing the framework of our existing applications.

  • Support our diverse application portfolio (vendor cloud applications as well as in-house Java applications)
  • Provide consulting to various development teams within our organization on their application support, development and modernization efforts
  • Take part in the development of highly complex departmental Enterprise and Modal Support systems
  • Collaborate with a wide range of business areas, IT staff, and third-party software vendors to support initiatives and increase efficiencies crossing multiple technical environments
  • Be adaptable with ever-changing work priorities

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-33) with an annual salary of $79,040 - $112,320 (or $38 - $54 per hour), plus excellent benefits . A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This state agency does not sponsor work visas. This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Qualifications

A minimally qualified candidate must detail having experience in all of the following in order to be considered:

  • Reviewing business requirements and translating them into technical requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving customer-reported issues with Java applications.
  • Developing web applications using Java 8+ and Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Using development tools such as IntelliJ, GitHub.com, etc.

In addition to having experience in all of the above, a well-qualified candidate will have also detail having experience in one or more of the following:

  • Upgrading Java and/or SpringBoot versions for web applications.
  • Testing Java applications using industry-standard best practices.
  • Performing application development using multiple methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, etc.).
