General PurposeUnder administrative direction, manage the IT Project Management Office (PMO) and oversee the execution of the IT portfolio project management and governance framework.
Typical DutiesCritical project management on IT program initiatives. Involves: Facilitate intakes for new project requests, work with project sponsors, business stakeholders, and IT managers to ensure that business cases and project charters are appropriately documented and meet project standards. Execute IT projects through the project management framework to deliver business value. Use industry best practices to define and contribute to continuous process improvement within the IT PMO. Analyze project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations and appropriate process for accomplishing projects. Manage project risks and issues to implement risk mitigation plans.
Lead the project management teams. Involves: Accountable for the IT portfolio processes including IT planning, project methodology framework, and resource capacity management. Ensure project management standards and best practices are being executed across the IT project portfolio. Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle, and confer with project staff to outline work plan. Ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with organization objectives. Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project delivers on schedule and within budget. Evaluate projects to make certain project results meet the intended goal, satisfy quality standards, and meet stakeholder expectations. Identify ways to improve project outcomes.
Supervise assigned staff. Involves: schedule, assign, instruct in, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance and review evaluations by subordinates. Confer with department staff on system problems and corrective action and include other department personnel as needed. Provide for training, and development; enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, and other employee status changes.
