Job Announcement
The City of Chandler Police Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as the IT Database Senior Analyst. This position plans, creates, installs, supports, and maintains complex departmental databases; and, facilitates department access and use while maintaining security protocols provides backup support for enterprise databases. This is a regular full-time, exempt position with benefits. The anticipated work schedule for this position is a Monday-Friday, on-site; on-call and weekends as needed.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; and, when assigned to the Police Department IT Section, the successful candidate must be able to do the following:
  • Must be able to analyze, plan, design, and implement high reliability availability and scalability solutions for enterprise SQL database environments assist with capacity planning.
  • Performs database recovery backups clones refreshes exports imports storage maintenance and security maintenance task for multiple databases.
  • Drafts documentation including standard operating procedures.
  • Develops modifies and optimizes SQL scripts and determines modifications to tune database performance provides solutions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Serves as database technical expert to the department.
  • Coordinates database related projects including assignment schedules and plans.
  • Plans and conducts maintenance functions migration and upgrades coordinates with users and vendors ensures compliance with vendor license agreement.

Minimum qualifications
  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or in a related field of study; and
  • Must have at least 4-years of experience in database management, administration and support in a SQL environment that includes clustering; and
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2019 or newer) and Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance.
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Always On, clustering, replication, and log shipping.
  • Experience with database backup, restore, and data protection tools.
  • Understanding of cloud and hybrid database environments.
  • Experience with Azure data or BI services such as MSBI or Fabric.
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
  • Experience supporting cloud migrations or database modernization projects.
  • Microsoft or Azure database certification is a plus.

Supervision

Work is performed under the supervision of a division supervisor or manager. This position does not supervise others.
