Overview

The Opportunity:

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the world’s foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst to join the organization within the Information Technology (EBIT) Department. The current business needs and demands are ever rapidly changing and require an agile, flexible, analytical candidate to join EBIT.

 

Position Summary:

In the IT Business Analyst position, you will be expected to ask questions, communicate openly, and get out of your seat and comfort zone. While this is NOT a Software Development role, the successful candidate will possess the technical aptitude required to work closely with Software Developers

 

The responsibilities of the IT Business Analyst will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze and learn business software and processes.
  • Understand and translate business needs into system requirements.
  • Investigate data to understand and document issues/enhancements.
  • Work with various software development teams to drive implementation of innovative software solutions.
  • Drive cross functional teams and challenge the status quo.
  • Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets.
  • Utilize verification and validation techniques to ensure software deliverables are high quality and meet customer needs.
  • Provide IT SME support toward highly visible or critical production issues.

 

This  IT Business Analyst role focuses on supporting the Siemens PLM products managed by the EBIT organization.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of PLM (product lifecycle management) software technical experience (e.g. CATIA, Teamcenter, NX, Vismockup, etc...)

Preferred:

 

Siemens PLM Product Support Experience

  • Experience supporting Teamcenter, NX, and Vismockup/NX Visualization in a production environment.
  • Experience with Teamcenter administration, including BMIDE data model review, Server Manager configuration, environment deployment activities, and troubleshooting Active Workspace.
  • Experience supporting NX configuration and performance, including managing customer defaults, CAD data structures, and system-level settings.
  • Experience supporting JT and visualization workflows, including large assembly handling, viewability troubleshooting, and Vismockup/NX Visualization usage.

Troubleshooting & Analysis

  • Experience diagnosing issues across client, server, and network layers in PLM/CAD environments.
  • Experience analyzing system logs (Teamcenter, NX, dispatcher, BMIDE, JT translator) to identify and resolve issues.
  • Experience using SQL (Oracle or SQL Server) to perform queries for data validation and troubleshooting.

PLM Processes & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Experience supporting PLM processes including engineering change workflows, product structure/BOM management, revision rules, and CAD-to-PLM release activities.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing engineering, design engineering, IT infrastructure teams, and release management to resolve PLM-related issues.
  • Experience logging, managing, and resolving cases with Siemens GTAC.

Deployments & Enhancements

  • Experience participating in PLM/CAD system upgrades, patching, environment cloning, migrations, and enhancement projects.

Documentation & User Support

  • Experience creating technical documentation, knowledgebase articles, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience providing guidance or training for non-technical users and translating technical behaviors into actionable steps.
  • Experience managing escalated support cases and coordinating resolutions with cross-functional teams.
Skills
  • Strong ownership mentality with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical thinking, with the ability to quickly isolate problems in complex environments.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working effectively with both technical peers and business stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn and remain open-minded when approaching new technologies and challenges.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring quality and accuracy in work output.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to manage tasks, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Forward-thinking mindset to proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve data integrity, and enhance system performance.

  • Exposure to integrations with other enterprise systems, such as ERP, MES, or other downstream engineering tools.
