THE OPPORTUNITYThe Auditor-Controller is seeking an IT Applications Developer II, to design, develop, maintain, and support the software for Orange County's CAPS+ Financial and Human Resources & Payroll system. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, customization and management of custom mobile and web applications, software integration and other projects. Current vacant position requires on-site work. Remote or hybrid options are not available.
Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop, test, implement, maintain, and document software programs including working effectively within a team environment to gather software requirements, design and develop software and implement projects
- Perform all necessary development/enhancement/maintenance activities, including, coding, configuring, unit and integration testing, regression testing, performance testing
- Implement high quality, secure and maintainable code using standard software design patterns and best practices
- Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from users regarding errors, problems, or questions
- Develop and create customized reports and dashboards
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess at least one (1) year of experience with the ability to write and execute SQL queries on Oracle and/or SQL Database Environments.
The ideal candidate will also possess experience as a software developer on medium to large platforms.
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following core competencies:
Technical Knowledge I Expertise - Web based design, development, and maintenance experience using .Net Framework, C#, .Net MVC, Net Web Form, ASP.Net, Web API, SQL, Entity Framework, CSS, and JavaScript
- Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
- Implementing high quality, secure and maintainable code using standard software design patterns and best practices
- Experience with Visual Studio .Net, Visual Studio, Adobe Forms, WordPress, MS Project, MS Visio, and MS SQL database
- Maintaining a degree of knowledge on current technologies and tools
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
