IT Accounting Operations Manager

Position Summary

The IT Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for leading the Accounting team while driving process improvements, system enhancements, and automation initiatives across the organization. This role oversees both onshore and offshore accounting resources, ensuring accurate and timely billing, contract reconciliation, data management, and financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong accounting knowledge, technical aptitude, and a passion for leveraging technology and AI-driven solutions to improve efficiency and scalability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the daily activities of the accounting team, including two domestic team members and three offshore resources.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance oversight to ensure departmental goals and service levels are achieved.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to support revenue recognition processes, deferred revenue reconciliations, and monthly close activities related to customer contracts and recurring services.
  • Evaluate existing accounting, billing, and operational processes to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, automation, and scalability.
  • Document procedures, workflows, and best practices to support consistent execution and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls around billing, contract management, system integrations, and related accounting processes.
  • Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and AI-driven solutions to evaluate and deploy workflow automation platforms and reporting solutions to improve productivity and accuracy.
  • Oversee processing activities, including sales order validation, service billing, contract reconciliation, and invoice generation
  • Reconcile customer contracts with project deliverables, products, and services to generate accurate customer invoices.
  • Assist with the administration, maintenance, and optimization of company accounting and operational systems.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze Excel-based reports and tracking tools to support accounting operations, billing, and management reporting.
  • Review financial and operational data, conduct research, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor data integrity across systems and develop controls to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding billing, invoicing, and system-related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and vendors through phone, email, and virtual meetings.
  • Support system upgrades, integrations, testing, data migrations, and implementation projects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting, billing, accounts receivable, or accounting operations experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience leading accounting teams.
  • Experience in managed services, technology, telecommunications, or recurring revenue environments.
  • Experience managing both domestic and offshore personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience improving processes through technology, automation, AI tools, or workflow optimization.
  • Strong understanding of customer billing, contract reconciliation, revenue processes, and accounting operations.
  • Experience with ERP systems, CRM platforms, billing systems, workflow automation tools, and system integrations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, data modeling, reconciliation analysis, and automation techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.


Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary of $110,000 which may be negotiable depending on experience.
