Full Job Description
About the Growth Team

The Customer Acquisition, Growth, and Engagement team (CAGE) is focused on streamlining and innovating around the new and returning user experience for Thumbtack. By adding value for users and meeting their needs, we can activate them as first time customers and convince them to return to Thumbtack to help solve future problems by ensuring their experience was a good one.

We accomplish this by focusing both on getting the fundamentals right around core experiences like login and auth, as well as by building new features that allow us to better understand user needs early in their journey to get them to the right place.

The challenge

Many of the sorts of changes we're making are unproven, and as a data driven company, we prefer to run experiments that vet our hypotheses. As an engineer, balancing places we can be scrappy to test ideas quickly vs places we need to take more care to exercise engineering rigor and build things the right way is important. Given we have cross functional teams, if you like looking at user problems from a product or design perspective, you'll be a great fit for this.

What you'll do
  • Drive iOS feature projects to completion, focusing on the business and customer impact of those projects.
  • Break down large projects into concrete deliverables and milestones that make it easy to track progress.
  • Work closely with back-end engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts, and other teams to gather feedback, prioritize projects, and deliver solutions.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders, proactively raising potential blockers and other risks.
  • Explore new frameworks and processes while also being able to discuss when (or when not) to use them.
  • Participate in a culture that values thoughtful code reviews and frequent deployments.

In order to be successful, you must bring
  • Passionate iOS engineer with experience building, testing, releasing, and maintaining apps written in Swift or Objective-C.
  • Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing apps that users love on the App Store.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication. We're moving quickly, so it's important for our engineers to communicate their status regularly, proactively bring up potential blockers and risks, and keep our cross-functional partners in the loop.

Expected salary ranges
  • For candidates living in Ontario and British Columbia, the expected salary range for the role is currently $180,200.00 - $233,200.00.

Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
