Inventory and Planning Supervisor

Department: Operations & Supply Chain

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: North Kingstown, RI

Reporting To: Mark Duffy

Description

The Inventory and Planning Supervisor is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and performance of all materials management functions at the North Kingstown facility. This includes production planning, inventory control, purchasing coordination, material flow optimization, and ERP system integrity to ensure customer demand is met efficiently, cost-effectively, and on schedule.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and execute materials strategies that align with sales forecasts, operational objectives, and financial goals.
  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels to support customer service targets and working capital performance.
  • Monitor and drive key KPIs including inventory turns, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and material availability.
  • Lead Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and capacity alignment across Sales and Operations.
  • Direct master production scheduling (MPS) and release of manufacturing work orders (make-to-order and make-to-stock).
  • Monitor work-in-process (WIP), resolve bottlenecks, and ensure accurate promise dates with proactive communication.
  • Own ERP/MRP system integrity, including BOMs, routings, item master data, lead times, forecasts, and planning parameters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in system utilization, reporting, and data accuracy to support cost control and planning effectiveness.
  • Partner with Purchasing to validate MRP outputs, ensure timely procurement, and improve supplier performance and lead time.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production planning and inventory teams while fostering cross-functional collaboration.
  • Oversee physical inventory and cycle count programs, ensure compliance with internal controls, and report operational performance to senior leadership.


What You Will Have

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in production planning, materials management, or related roles within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in make-to-order and make-to-stock manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of MPS/MRP systems and ERP database management.
  • APICS CPIM or other relevant supply chain certification preferred.
