Job Title: Interventional Radiology Tech

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required

Must-Have: Accredited Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program

Description:
Schedules patients for transportation within the hospital.

Coordinates with various teams to minimize patient delays.

Creates procedural orders when necessary.

Confirms patient identity and ensures correct procedural consent is obtained.

Understands acceptable lab values and procedure contraindications, sharing information with the attending physician if a variance is identified.

Maintains room procedure sheets for documentation of procedures performed and all supplies used.

Inputs necessary procedural information, including biopsy passes, intravascular pressure measurements, and amount of sedation and intravenous contrast used.

Ensures accurate primary and secondary procedural coding based on diagnostic procedures and subsequent interventions.

Completes image manipulation and transmission to medical imaging systems from various imaging units.

Records data for endovascular repair to disk.

Provides high-quality multi-modality imaging support during interventional procedures.

Demonstrates understanding of specialized imaging techniques for patients with compromised cardiothoracic output or malignancies.

Performs portable interventional procedures using ultrasound equipment.

Supports other clinical partners during intra-operative cases requiring interventional radiology equipment.

Performs image post-processing and quality assurance of images.

Conducts systems checks and quality control testing on equipment to ensure functionality.

Cleans radiographic equipment and procedural suites.

Operates various imaging systems and technologies used for diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Notifies supervisors of equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots with vendor tech support.

Describes exams to patients and positions them on procedural tables while assisting with hemodynamic monitoring.

Alerts clinical staff if there are changes in a patient's condition.

Prepares patients for procedures using sterile techniques.

Assists interventional proceduralists by managing intraprocedural supplies.

Aids in administration and documentation of regulated pharmaceuticals.

Practices optimum radiation protection for patients and staff in procedure rooms.

Helps apply post-procedural dressings.

Ensures proper identification and delivery of all anatomic or foreign body specimens to the appropriate collection site.
