NAME OF PETITIONER: Berkshire Medical Center

JOB TITLE: Internal Medicine Physician

WORKSITE ADDRESS: 777 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201

WAGE RANGE: $199,999.00 to $376,147.00/year

NUMBER OF HOURS/WEEK: 40 hours/week

REMOTE/TELECOMMUTING POSITION: N/A - 100% onsite.

TRAVEL: Average of 5% travel within Berkshire County to other BMC practice sites.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Internal Medicine physicians are the cornerstone of outpatient medical care at Berkshire Medical Center. The team also provides internal medicine consultation for surgical, behavioral health and patient rehabilitation. Internal Medicine providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Internal Medicine physicians will focus on the acute and chronic medical care of adults to diagnose and treat complex adult illnesses, focusing on prevention and chronic care.
  • Internal Medicine providers will involve managing patient care with a focus on diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
  • Complete direct patient care of a minimum of 40 hours per business week (at least 36 hours of which shall be in the provision of direct patient care and approximately 4 hours of which shall consist of charting and other administrative work associated with such direct patient care and payment for such care) plus services provided pursuant to the On-Call Schedule.
  • Utilize various diagnostic testing, such as labs and imaging, to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients.
  • Take patient history and perform physical examination of patients.
  • Develop medical care plans for patients, demonstrating the necessary medical knowledge and clinical decision-making ability.
  • Communicate with patients and staff, verbally and otherwise in a manner that exhibits good professional judgement and is appropriate for the professional setting.
  • Read charts, monitors, and other sources of clinical information.
  • Complete appropriate medical records, documents, and plans according to protocol and in a complete and timely manner.
  • Perform all job functions while dressed in protective clothing required for clinical duties, including tolerating a mask, gown, and gloves.
  • Move through the medical center to address routine and emergent patient care issues and to attend required educational programs.
  • Work shifts of varying lengths and schedules, including daytime-evening and overnight clinical shifts.
  • Fulfill backup and on-call duties as scheduled.
  • Provide care at all clinical sites, including Berkshire Medical Center, our Ambulatory clinic, and other affiliated practices of BMC, such as the Cancer Center, etc.
  • Utilize a computer for medical record review, documentation, decision support, research, and education in an efficient and timely fashion.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or foreign equivalent.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess valid Physician License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
