Your Opportunity

We are seeking an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our Markham office, with consideration for other Ontario locations. You will be part of the Water Resources Technical Team within Stantec's Environmental Services Business Line.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Hydrotechnical Engineer, you will contribute to a variety of hydrotechnical, hydrologic, and hydraulic projects within a dynamic design team. You will report directly to a Project Manager or Team Lead.
  • Develop hydrodynamic models using tools such as MIKE 3, MIKE 21, and Telemac to support coastal and river engineering projects, including environmental impact assessments, remedial designs, and risk evaluations
  • Apply a strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, with proficiency in HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and PCSWMM
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive technical reports documenting field investigations, analytical findings, and interpretations
  • Support proposal development and assist in creating work plans, project schedules, and budgets, while managing assigned projects and tasks
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to a cohesive and productive work environment
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding and consistent application of industry standards, guidelines, and regulatory frameworks
  • Perform primarily office-based work, involving extended periods of computer use and data analysis

Education and Experience

Graduate degree in Engineering with a focus on hydrodynamics, water resources, or hydrology

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in consulting or regulatory environments

Mining experience is an asset, specifically mine water balances and mine water management.

Regular use of hydrodynamic modeling tools

Professional registration with PEO or PGO eligibility to obtain P.Eng. or P.Geo.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather

Pay Range:
• Locations in PEI-$80,300.00 - $116,400.00 Annually
• Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC & Various locations in Ontario-$89,200.00 - $129,300.00 Annually
• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$94,600.00 - $137,100.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
