GHD has an opportunity for an Intermediate Environmental Project Manager, Contaminated Sites (Oil and Gas) to join our Canada West Team's Contamination Assessment and Remediation Group in Edmonton, Alberta.

We are seeking an experienced professional with a background of supporting oil & gas clients and projects relating to upstream, midstream, downstream, or related energy-sector environments. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the planning and delivery of environmental site assessments, reclamation, and remediation projects of complex oil & gas sites. This will involve coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and being accountable for high-quality client service and deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities and will see you involved in:
  • Delivery of environmental projects for oil & gas wellsite's and facilities, ensuring clear scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, and execution plans are in place from initiation through closeout.
  • Managing day-to-day project execution, including evaluation of performance, risks, issues, changes, and dependencies, while coordinating internal teams and external partners to maintain delivery, quality, and expected outcomes.
  • Providing regular communications and reporting to keep clients and internal stakeholders informed on project progress, financial performance, regulatory obligations, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinating the retention and oversight of vendors, subcontractors, and partner teams, ensuring consistent standards for field execution, site access requirements, health and safety expectations, and quality outcomes across oil & gas and energy-sector projects.
  • Supporting digital data collection and standardized reporting workflows;
  • Preparing and reviewing technical project deliverables including reports, client updates, and regulatory documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and readiness for internal approval and external submission.
  • Completing project closeout activities including completion documentation, lessons learned, continuous improvement actions, and effective handoff across teams and client stakeholders.


What you will bring to the team:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects for oil & gas, or energy-sector clients, with accountability for client relationships, project performance, and delivery excellence.
  • Strong project management skills across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource management, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a structured and practical way.
  • Strong leadership skills across field and office resources, subcontractors, and cross-functional stakeholders in complex oil & gas project environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client discussions, coordinate internal stakeholders, and deliver clear project reporting.
  • Competent background in oil & gas environmental projects including upstream, midstream, downstream, field development, facility operations support, reclamation, remediation, site assessments, or regulatory compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with structured delivery frameworks that embed quality assurance (verification, documentation, audit trails) into workflows.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field
  • Possesses, or can obtain, a recognized Professional designation in the Province of Alberta will be highly regarded
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental consulting including environmental remediation and site assessments, report writing, data management and interpretation, project management, and client management, preferably with significant exposure to oil & gas projects.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings, project coordination, and occasional field or site visits is required.
  • Familiarity with analytics dashboards and data management practices that support compliance tracking and decision-making.
