The Opportunity

Build the future with us.
WSP's Resources subsector, part of our Energy, Resources & Industry business line, supports mining and heavy industrial clients across Canada. Our teams deliver engineering and project execution excellence across the full project lifecycle-from conceptual studies and detailed design to commissioning, optimization, and beyond.

In this role, you will shape the electrical power systems that drive Canada's mining and industrial sectors. Based in Vancouver, BC, you will support and lead electrical design for both new construction and brownfield projects, influencing project outcomes from concept through completion. Your work will help our clients operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Your Impact
  • Design electrical power distribution and control systems that support safe, reliable industrial operations.
  • Apply your technical expertise to hazardous classification environments including flammable gases and combustible dusts.
  • Conduct power system studies-load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash analysis-using tools such as ETAP or EasyPower.
  • Prepare specifications and data sheets for switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Deliver electrical systems design across power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and more.
  • Incorporate regulatory compliance, safety considerations, and risk analysis into every stage of design.
  • Oversee engineering calculations and verify design accuracy through field reviews and site evaluations.
  • Coordinate design activities across disciplines and offices to support seamless project execution.
  • Build relationships with clients, respond to technical inquiries, and provide expert guidance.
  • Mentor junior staff and help grow the next generation of electrical engineering talent.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC; additional jurisdictions considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of CSA, ANSI, IEEE, building codes, and other relevant standards.
  • Proficiency in power system modelling tools and familiarity with instrumentation, automation, and control systems.
  • Ability to execute project work across power distribution, grounding, heat tracing, fire alarms, cathodic protection, and related systems.
  • Experience working in industrial environments such as mines, mills, refineries, ports, or material-handling facilities.
  • Valid driver's licence and ability to attend industrial sites in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work within multidiscipline project teams.
