The Opportunity

Build the future with us.
As a Distribution Line Engineer with WSP's Distribution team in any of our British Columbia offices, you'll help design resilient power systems that keep communities connected, energized, and ready for tomorrow.

Working within our Power Delivery subsector, you'll support low- to medium-voltage overhead and underground distribution projects that modernize energy infrastructure and solve real power delivery challenges.

You'll grow your technical expertise through meaningful project work, mentorship, and collaboration with a supportive team of engineers, designers, and stakeholders.

Your Impact
  • Design overhead and underground power distribution systems for projects ranging from customer connections to large-scale system reconfigurations.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, design packages, equipment sizing, material specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Apply distribution design software, relevant codes, and standards, including CSA, to deliver accurate and compliant designs.
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and internal teams to support seamless project delivery, estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support.
  • Conduct quality reviews, site visits, and construction-phase support to maintain safety, accuracy, and project standards.
  • Strengthen client relationships and contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and high-quality project outcomes.

  • Degree in Engineering and P.ENG in British Columbia or near final stages of license.
  • Between 5 to 10 years experience with distribution line design (4 kV-35 kV), overhead/underground systems, and utility standards.
  • Exposure to non-linear powerline design software such as PLS-CADD, SPIDAcalc, etc
  • Proficiency with distribution modelling, structure analysis tools, and CAD/drafting interfaces -
  • Familiarity with CSA standards, utility construction practices, grounding, clearances, and load calculations.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance safety, cost, and performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, environmental, and planning disciplines.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $98,800 to $130,800
MB & ON: $90,100 to $124,100
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $89,200 to $118,500
