4.Current BLS

5.ACLS Certified

6.PALS Certified, within 6 months of hire

Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelors prepared RN or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years nursing experience, Charge Nurse experience with excellent clinical nursing skills
  • Must be invested in the growth of the employees under their direction
  • Effective at producing improvements in patient care metrics and utilizing staff to their best potential

Job Summary

The Director of Perioperative Services is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities of the Operating Room, Central Sterile and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.

Duties
  1. Responsible for staffing and scheduling all staff
  2. 24 hour responsibility ensuring staff coverage through appropriate staff scheduling
  3. Responsible for staffing/scheduling in a cost effective manner
  4. Delegates responsibility
  5. Ensures that staff skills, competencies and educational needs are met
  6. Ensures that infection prevention procedures are utilized to maintain safe and quality care of the surgical patient
  7. Responsible for the development and revision of protocols, procedures, forms and electronic documentation
  8. Develops and interprets departmental policy and procedures
  9. Evaluates physical facilities, equipment and supplies to ensure safe nursing care
  10. Acts as liaison between department Medical Director, Vice President of Nursing, Administration and staff
  11. Works with organization directors and leaders to improve patient care
  12. Provides on going quality improvement monitors to ensure quality of patient care
  13. Assists with improving Organizational Performance
  14. Assists with development and implementation of new service lines
  15. Exhibits progressive professional development
  16. Demonstrates reliability and flexibility
  17. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements

Functional Demands

Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, or controls; each with hands and arms; and talk to hear. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods, occasionally required to sit, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
