Interim Controller, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the entire accounting function. You'll take full ownership of critical areas of the monthly close, ensuring that all financial reports are accurate and timely. Ultimately, this position ensures the integrity of financial data and supports the organization's long-term financial health and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical accounting expertise, operational rigor, and strong business partnership skills.
What You'll Be Doing- Lead and manage the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, variable compensation, and financial reporting functions.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to optimize the company's financial position.
- Ensure the accounting team is trained, motivated, and aligned with organizational goals and compliance standards.
- Partner with Finance and other business teams to support accounting projects, assist with FP&A financial planning, process enhancements, and evolving business initiatives.
A Successful Candidate Will Have- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced and high-growth environment, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Strong knowledge of General Ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Experience with NetSuite, and high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Hands-on experience using AI-enabled tools in daily accounting tasks, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
- A proactive mindset and a commitment to continuously improving processes, controls, and financial operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships across teams.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, as this position involves handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
- High attention to detail and the ability to process a large volume of information quickly and accurately.
- Reliability and accountability for meeting agreed-upon deliverables and timelines.
Location: Our office is located in Boulder, CO. While in-person work is our default, this role follows a hybrid schedule with a minimum requirement of being in the Boulder office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. #LI-Hybrid
Contract Length Terms: 5-6 month, 1099 contract position.
Monthly Rate $13,000 - $20,000 a month, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
