DescriptionHampton University invites applications for the position of Interim Chairperson of the Department of Architecture. The University seeks a visionary leader with a proven record of academic and administrative skills and accomplishments. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026.
Qualifications The interim chairperson must have demonstrated leadership and achievement in architectural practice or education, with a strong expertise developed in any of the following areas: performance-based design, architectural technology and construction, sustainability, urban and community design, and historic preservation. Candidates must have earned a terminal degree in architecture, have professional registration as an architect, and have demonstrated commitment to excellence in design, teaching, research and scholarship. Administrative experience in academia or the profession is required. The interim chairperson must be able to work with the institutional administration, the faculty, the staff, and the students. The selected candidate will have the responsibility of administering the program, fundraising, curricular stewardship, program accreditation reports, outreach to local communities, alumni and the professional community, student and faculty recruitment, and teaching. The interim chair will maintain an active connection with ACSA and ARCC, NOMA, AIA, and NCARB. The interim chair represents Hampton University's program as an ex-officio member of the AIA Virginia Board of Directors.
Salary is based on qualifications $100,000-$130,000
