The Intergovernmental Relations Officer is responsible for managing, coordinating and developing intergovernmental strategies, positions, policies and relationships as well as providing strategic, advisory, and executive support for Yukon's participation in interdepartmental, intergovernmental and international agreements, committees, conferences and meetings.

The Intergovernmental Relations Officer represents the Government of Yukon in the Executive Council Office's engagement with other governments in Canada and internationally. This position manages a wide network of contacts within and outside the Yukon government to ensure that executive-level intergovernmental relations are carried out in a coordinated, consistent and effective manner so other governments understand and consider the goals, objectives, positions and circumstances of Yukon.

  • Bachelors degree in public administration, political science, communications or a related field;
  • Extensive experience in policy, communications, negotiations, and/or intergovernmental relations;
  • Extensive experience analyzing complex and sensitive issues and providing strategic advice to senior level management and elected officials; and
  • Experience providing support for engagements led by elected or appointed representatives and/or experience representing the interests or positions of an organization or government to external parties will be considered assets.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must hold a valid Canadian passport.

Job requirements: Frequent travel within and outside of the territory

*This position is in Whitehorse, Yukon, and requires you to work in the office. Remote work is not available for this role.
