Full Job Description
The Integrations Developer (Term Position) reports to the Integrations and Data Engineering Team Lead and plays a key role in supporting the implementation and integration of financial aid systems within a multi-institutional higher education environment. This position is responsible for designing and developing integrations between financial aid applications and enterprise systems using APIs, as well as building and maintaining file-based integrations within a SQL Server environment, including leveraging SFTP capabilities.

The role requires strong technical expertise combined with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders. The Integration Developer ensures seamless data exchange, accuracy, and connectivity across student information systems, financial aid platforms, and external service providers. This position also contributes to requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and deployment of mission-critical integrations that improve operational efficiency and enhance student services.

Duties/Responsibilities

Integration Development - 60%
  • Design, develop, and test scalable ETL data integrations across multiple API standards (e.g., REST, SOAP, web services) to support growing data volume and complexity.
  • Lead knowledge transfer sessions by presenting solutions to technical and functional stakeholders, ensuring alignment with established standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate and manage integration efforts with vendors, functional teams, developers, and project stakeholders throughout the full implementation lifecycle.
  • Perform system, integration, and user acceptance testing to validate end-to-end business processes and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Maintain project management systems of record, including tracking project status, milestones, tasks, and time reporting, to support accurate performance metrics and reporting for ET&S management.


Technical & Business Analysis - 25%
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to design and deliver scalable integration solutions that support financial aid operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), integration best practices, and development environments to promote consistency and alignment across the team.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional system requirements to guide solution design and implementation.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and project leads to analyze and resolve complex functional and technical challenges.
  • Develop and provide time and resource estimates, along with cost-benefit analyses, to support informed decision-making.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project initiation, planning, and execution, including the development of project estimates, technical recommendations, and timeline assessments.


Create Technical Documentation - 10%
  • Prepare technical documentation, interface specifications, and support procedures for implemented integrations.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in application integration, software development, or middleware technologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong customer service and support skills, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to work productively in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies
  • Experience with large scale enterprise application implementation, integration, maintenance, and support.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies: GIT, JavaScript, Java, SQL, SOAP or REST-based APIs, WSQL, C/C++
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional and non-functional system requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of information security best practices, especially related to regulated data
  • Experience translating business requirements into functional and non-functional system requirements.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following Workday tools (Workday Studio, Workday Orchestrate, Extend, Workday Reports, EIB)
  • Basic understanding of XML, XSL, JSON
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
  • Experience with Financial Aid applications, such as PowerFAIDS
  • Experience working with Department of Education TDClient, ISIR, or COD files

Compensation Pay Range:
$69,560.00 - $124,580.00
